From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Fear and bravery are often one and the same. It either makes you a warrior or a coward. The only difference is the person it resides inside.”
― Jennifer L. Armentrout, From Blood and Ash

 Hi Everyone!

I am back with a review I wanted to publish long ago. Today, it's the turn of From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I read this book for the first time five years ago, in 2020, and I discovered it was amazing. And two years later, I read this book again in 2022. This was my first book by this author, and after that,t I guess I read seven or eight books by this author. This is a Fantasy book and was the first shot of this genre by  Jennifer L. Armentrout.

This review is more of my personal appreciation of this book. I just love to read and enjoy each book and a good story, so this is not something like a formal book review or a professional one. This is just me commenting about what I enjoyed in this book.

A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor-bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

 Review "No Spoilers"

I started this book with zero expectation, and since the first chapter, I discovered that this book was a wonderful Fantasy universe, and first I discovered a journey of Poppy, which is going to discover a world of lies and uncover truths. The world of a Kingdom. I discovered action and amazing chemistry between the characters.

This book contains a complex universe, a lot of action, and, of course, magical creatures and very dark ones. And yes, the violence and the characters' development are wonderful. I am trying not to say too much. The fantasy is dense, I guess is not for everybody because the fantasy contains a lot of details. This book ended wonderfully, and I love it.

  6. I also hate doing spoilers so I understand you being so careful in your review but so genuine in expressing your feelings and impressions. I confess that it is not my genre, but I have some nieces that love this style and if I will find it in Italian, I know it wi be a great gift!

  8. I absolutely love this book too. It's one of my favorites, and I totally get why you re-read it. The chemistry between Poppy and Hawke is just amazing, and the world-building is so detailed and fun to get lost in. It's so cool that this was your first book by the author, too. That quote at the beginning is so good. Thanks for sharing your review.
